Round One:

. RB. Carolina Panthers. Christian McCaffrey. 1. player. 87

Team 1

The Carolina Panthers didn’t make the playoffs last season, but Christian McCaffrey definitely made a lot of players make their playoffs and more than likely their championships in their fantasy leagues. What McCaffrey managed to do points wise was almost unseen as he averaged 29.4 points per game last year, finishing with a jaw-dropping 471.2 points on the entire season.

He instantly locked himself in as the top player in fantasy moving forward as his ability on the ground and through the air is unmatchable by any other player. Perhaps the best part of McCaffrey’s 2020 projections is that he has a far better QB under center than what he had to deal with last year for the majority of the season in Teddy Bridgewater. Take CMC with the first pick and know you have a virtual lock as a top-five player in fantasy.

Saquon Barkley. 2. player. 31. . RB. New York Giants

Team 2

If you drafted Saquon Barkley last season, there’s a good chance you came out disappointed. Not only because he didn’t live up to the hopeful standards of a No. 1 selection, but also the fact you more than likely saw McCaffrey come off the board one or two right after him. But something that is missed on the season of Barkley is that he still managed to finish in the top 10 for runningbacks despite only playing in 13 games.

That’s why we keep him so high. When healthy, Barkley is among the most talented players in all of football. Now, with a new head coach in Joe Judge and going behind Daniel Jones at the helm, this is his chance to succeed. Add in the fact that the offensive line has received improvements and you see a great chance for Barkley to recapture that top spot of RB1 that he had in 2018. Draft Barkley and enjoy the redemption season.

123. . RB. Dallas Cowboys. Ezekiel Elliott. 3. player

Team 3

There isn’t a more consistent runner in the first round than Ezekiel Elliott. The Dallas Cowboys running back has long been one of the best players in fantasy football and this year comes into the season with zero question marks surrounding him. That’s a treat for anyone. What he will do is more than likely be at the top when it comes to rushing and touchdowns. He’s a lock to be a top 10 running back and more likely to be a lock as a top-five back. If you miss out on the first two, this isn’t a bad resolution at No. 3.

4. player. 15. . WR. New Orleans Saints. Michael Thomas

Team 4

The first wide receiver off the board is the second most dominant fantasy player in PPR last season, Michael Thomas. No matter who was quarterbacking the New Orleans Saints, Thomas made it work. So much so that he broke the single-season record for catches in a season with 149. If you were having a tough decision between Elliott and Thomas at three, that’s fine. You should go based on if you prefer the running back or wide receiver more. Understandably, Thomas could be taken at No. 2 and it would make sense.

Thomas is the latest wide receiver to rise to top-five draft position, with his prospects being bright once again with Drew Brees back at quarterback this season. Take him with confidence.

. RB. Minnesota Vikings. Dalvin Cook. 5. player. 60

Team 5

The surefire bets of the first round are now gone, and you have to take someone based on hopeful improvement from their season in 2019. Dalvin Cook, who broke out in 2019, presents the perfect player to come off the board here.  The only thing against Cook is his injury concerns, but it’s clear the Minnesota Vikings are making him the center point of their offense. It’s fair to expect a game or two without him, but strictly based on potential and what he showed last year in 14 games (RB6, 292.4 points), he should go in the top five.

RB. New Orleans Saints. Alvin Kamara. 6. player. 15.

Team 6

Alvin Kamara’s fantasy value took a hit last season despite Mark Ingram moving on. He struggled to be that RB1 many hoped for with Teddy Bridgewater quarterbacking at times and he suffered an injury that had him miss two games. And yet, he somehow finished as the RB9 on the season. With Latavius Murray still very present in the backfield, taking him as the fifth running back off the board is still smart due to his ability in PPR. Drew Brees being back, much like Michael Thomas, helps Kamara’s fantasy prospects. He’s a clear mid-first pick.

124. . WR. Kansas City Chiefs. Tyreek Hill. 7. player

Team 7

The second wide receiver off the board will bring a lot of people headaches as the league is packed with some of the best it has ever had. There really isn’t a bad choice in the top five. Here, I roll with Tyreek Hill based on his big-game ability and improvement as an overall receiver. Hill suffered from injuries last year, but if you have had him before or faced him, you know what he is capable of. With another year between him and Patrick Mahomes, you can only imagine them being better in year three.

Tennessee Titans. Derrick Henry. 8. player. 35. . RB

Team 8

Derrick Henry figured it out in 2019 when he was finally given a chance to be the lead back of the Tennessee Titans. He not only led the league in rushing but finished with the highest point total of his career with 294.6. After the Titans showed he would be their focus, it makes Henry a lock to be drafted in the first round. He even showed improvement in the passing game, especially in the playoffs. Don’t be afraid of King Henry this season. Let his opponents be.

. WR. Green Bay Packers. Davante Adams. 9. player. 49

Team 9

Davante Adams is another player that suffered from injuries more than anyone. Turf toe led him to miss four games. And yet, he still finished with over 200 points and 83 catches on the season. He was expected to do what Michael Thomas did this season and very well could in 2020. Considering his ability to get open and who his quarterback is, Adams is a lock to be a top-five receiver as long as he stays healthy.

56. . RB. Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Mixon. 10. player

Team 10

The tenth pick could go to a number of players, but there are few that had a stronger end to their season than Joe Mixon did. After struggling for the first half of the season, he figured it out. In the final nine games of the season, he scored more than 17 points seven times, finally showing what he was made of. With LSU product Joe Burrow taking over as the team’s quarterback and AJ Green expected to be back, this will be the year that Mixon establishes himself as one of the league’s absolute best. Don’t let him slip out of the first round.
