Marcus Stroman and Randal Grichuk’s beef just got weirder

Marcus Stroman has entered the chat to verbally joust with Randal Grichuk

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk has had himself an eventful Saturday. After some rummaging around Grichuk’s Twitter account, a user found out that he liked a tweet from the ever-controversial Aubrey Huff, who happened to bash former Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman. Huff alleged that Stroman ordered the Blue Jays strength coach to kick out 30 minor league players from the team gym during spring training last year.

After Grichuck’s “cover was blown,” the 28-year-old said that Huff’s claims were true and it was a known story around the league. That’s when Stroman entered the chat and proceeded to take Grichuk down a peg.

Stroman set his focus on Grichuk after getting into a verbal battle with Huff. Stroman claimed that Grichuk has never said anything to him face-to-face, instead opting to criticize him behind his back. But perhaps the biggest burn of all was that Stroman said he guaranteed Blue Jays players would rather have him on the team than Grichuk.

Shots. Fired.

And then, the two told each other to have a good Saturday. Of course, that should be read in a passive-aggressive tone. Those pleasantries were far from pleasant.

Stroman is no longer a part of the Blue Jays organization, as he was traded to the New York Mets at last year’s trade deadline. As a member of both teams, Stroman (10-12) posted a 3.22 ERA and struck out 159 batters over 184.1 innings of work in 2019.

As for Grichuk, he signed a five-year, $52 million with Toronto at the very start of the 2019 season. The outfielder managed to hit 31 home runs and 82 RBI, but slashed .232/.280/.457.

In case you were wondering, the Blue Jays and Mets face off in a three-game series from Sept. 11-13. So yes, there’s a possibility that these two heated rivals will face off.
