Dak Prescott should be asking for much more than what Carson Wentz got

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is next in line for a monster new contract

After Patrick Mahomes signed his incredible 10-year, $503 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, all eyes are now on Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys to see if they’ll be able to reach an agreement on an extension as well.

Prescott has made it clear he’s looking to get around $40 million a year, which most laughed at. However, with Mahomes’ deal, it will only entice Prescott to get closer to that amount. And taking a look at Carson Wentz’s deal with the Eagles, there’s more reason for him to get it.

Dak Prescott deserves every penny he’s about to get from the Dallas Cowboys

Last summer, Wentz signed a massive four-year extension worth around $130 million. At the time, it was a record-breaking one. Oh, how things have changed. This is something Prescott and his reps are 100% aware of.

Despite the Cowboys missing the playoffs last year, Prescott had an incredible season. On the year, the former Mississippi State signal caller tossed for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns, while also adding 277 rush yards and three more scores. He’s dangerous with both his right arm and legs, there’s few who will question that.

What’s made Prescott so outstanding too is his durability. Despite his dual-threat abilities, he’s never been one to worry about injuries and has been quite healthy. This is something he’ll be bringing to the negotiating table with him, especially with Wentz battling injuries throughout his young career.

If Jerry Jones wants to keep Dak Prescott happy, he’d be wise to try and get a deal done as soon as possible. It would have been smart for Jones and the front office to get something done before Mahomes inked his contract, but Dallas definitely blew it by not getting that done.

They can bounce back by giving Prescott the money he thinks he deserves. Few can argue he’s not worth it.
