At least the New York Mets haven’t had any baseball-related injuries.
The New York Mets have been hampered by some unfortunate luck when it comes to their star players suffering injuries. Whether it’s the ongoing health issues of Yoennis Cespedes or Michael Conforto trying to stay healthy to live up to his potential, the Mets have had more than their share of bad luck with injuries.
While the Mets have had non-baseball-related issues keep Robinson Cano and Brad Brach out of camp as fans suspect they’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, at least New York is staying healthy on the field.

Maybe that’s a good sign for the Mets who hope to make some noise in the truncated 60-game MLB schedule. An injury to a star player like Jacob deGrom could be a season-ending one, even if it’s something that would normally keep him out for four-to-six weeks. There just isn’t the time to absorb an injury like that and tread water with replacements until the reinforcements arrive.
This season is going to be an absolute circus if it’s allowed to be completed. For the Mets, having a healthy roster should give some hope and optimism to their fans that maybe this roster can provide some good news in a world where that’s been limited in the last several months.
Of course, things can change in a hurry as Mets fans are all too aware, but at a time when good news for the franchise has been tough to come by, they should be celebrating all their victories, no matter how small or large they may be.
