Aaron Rodgers isn’t given a 90 rating by Madden 21

Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers was rated below 90 for the first time in a decade.
Even after a 13-3 season and phenomenal individual numbers, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t do enough to convince the almighty rating adjustors at Madden to bump him up a notch for 2020.
For the first time since he was given an 86 ranking in Madden 10, Rodgers was given a grade of less than 90, as his 89 rating puts him sixth among all NFL quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Lamar Jackson topped the list with 99, 97, and 94 overall ratings, respectively.
Drew Brees’ 93 was good enough for fourth place, while new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady rounded out the top five after receiving a rating of 90.
After being rated 90 last season, Rodgers actually received a downgrade despite a solid season under Matt LaFleur.
Aaron Rodgers excelled under Matt LaFleur last year.
Rodgers was his usual elite self last year, leading Green Bay to a 13-3 record while completing 62 percent of his passes, throwing for 4,002 yards, and tossing 26 touchdowns against just four interceptions.
While his yards per attempt was below 7.4 for the fifth consecutive season, which helped feed the narrative that he’s lost a step, Rodgers helped take a team with a rookie head coach and exactly one quality, experienced receiver within one step of the NFC Championship Game, all the while producing at his usual clip. What was the reason for the downgrade?
Rodgers might be slowing down a little bit as he gets into the twilight of his career, but to have such a precipitous fall over the last two seasons, especially considering the less than amazing offensive talent he’s had to work with, in the eyes of Madden seems a bit harsh.
If he gets the Packers back to the NFC Championship game after that disaster of a draft, he might need to get his rating bumped up a bit in Madden 22.
