Philadelphia Eagles have found Brandon Brooks’ replacement in Jason Peters

The Philadelphia Eagles have filled a major gap on their offensive line, while also bringing back a fan favorite.
We’re months away from the NFL (maybe) starting, but the Philadelphia Eagles are already making moves to try and make another Super Bowl run.
According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, the Eagles finally struck a deal with Jason Peters to fill a gigantic hole at guard left by the injured Brandon Brooks.
A month ago, when it was revealed that Brooks would be lost for the season with yet another injury, head coach Doug Pederson said that the team would first look internally at finding a replacement.
This meant Andre Dillard.
"As far as the plan moving forward, we’re still looking at a lot of options, obviously. Starting with our own roster and the guys that we have competing for those backup spots and possibly those starting spots. We obviously haven’t made any decisions."
Well, it meant Andre Dillard — maybe.
While the Eagles want to develop their second-year lineman but he was hit-and-miss during his rookie campaign. He was fantastic in replacement of Peters when called upon, but was an utter disaster at right tackle.
Thankfully, that’s where it seems Peters is going to play meaning Dillard can continue to develop and settle into his role at left tackle. That all seems like a perfect plan, but it only masks the fact that the Eagles plan to get younger on the offensive line has been stunted by injury, and there’s going to be a long-term need at right guard in the near future.
The whole point of moving on from Peters this offseason was to freshen up the group upfront. Bringing Peters back is far from a bad thing, as if he can stay healthy he’s proven to be a Pro Bowl talent. But he won’t be anchoring right guard for years to come, and the recurring injuries to Brooks means that position will have a giant could hanging over it as the season progresses and the future begins to be considered more and more.
