Some NFL players have bigger reputations than their play on the field merits. These 10 “stars” represent the most overrated players in football.

No NFL player ever wants to believe they are overrated. Unfortunately for some, it’s the reality of where they stand in the modern game. Fans of teams with players on this list should really be concerned about how much playing time these ten stars get in 2020.

Some names that reside here are veterans that are well past their prime. It’s easy for front office officials to get caught up in how good a player was, rather than how good he is now. Overpaying for big names is a great way for a general manager to get himself fired.

It’s equally dangerous to get too caught up in a player’s post-draft hype. Some first-rounders who struggle out of the gate never become quality NFL players. Teams that stick with those young players too long often find themselves with losing records.

Without delay, let’s start with a second-year pro who is wildly overrated due to their draft position.

10. Clelin Ferrell

Many NFL pundits panned the Raiders for spending a high draft choice on Ferrell when it happened. It’s safe to say his lack of production for Jon Gruden has only made those experts feel validated as time has gone by.

Some might call it dangerous to write off Ferrell in his second season, but his performance as a rookie was downright putrid. He got a ton of snaps for the Raiders defense and only managed to contribute 4.5 sacks. More importantly, he looked downright overmatched at times against pretty ordinary offensive tackles. If Ferrell doesn’t double his production in his sophomore campaign it will be safe to conclude that he’s a draft bust.
