NFL team doctors believe it’s safe to open up training camps for July 28

On Friday, the NFL Players Association held a conference call with the Pro Football Writers of America in regards to the status of the 2020 season. With major upticks in new COVID-19 cases across the United States, the players union is talking to the league about a safety protocol  that could ensure football can even be played this season.

During said media call, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith revealed that NFL team doctors believe that it will be safe for players to participate in training camp starting on July 28 despite having “a couple of reservations.”

Players weren’t pleased with the opinion of team doctors

To the shock of no one, players shared the article from ProFootballTalk and trashed the notion given by NFL doctors in a variety of tweets. And yes, some very prominent players shared their disapproval of the medical recommendations.

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu used a simple acronym to show that he and his colleagues are all laughing.

Former Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis believes there might be some specific reasoning as to why doctors feel it’s safe to open up the always training camps…even with the virus spreading like wildfire.

Brand new tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Eric Ebron, questioned the credibility of team doctors with quite the mic drop.

We don’t need to explain that emoji from free agent safety Darius Butler. It’s self-explanatory.

With the start of training camp nearly two weeks away, the NFL and NFLPA still have a ton to work out before players can report. If there’s no plan, expect to see a lot of players opt out of the 2020 season with the purpose of securing their long term health during a global pandemic.
