Here are 5 Patrick Mahomes prop bets worth considering
By Tyler Kemp
Patrick Mahomes prop bets are going to be a bettor’s best dream or worst nightmare in 2020.
In three short years in the NFL, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has literally done everything. He won an MVP in his first year as a starter, took the Super Bowl LIII-winning Patriots to overtime in the playoffs and followed it up with a Super Bowl of his own the next season filled with multiple miraculous comebacks.
With a new $500 million contract extension over the next 10 years, Mahomes is set to keep asserting his dominance in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. In 2020, sky is truly the limit for how much Mahomes can accomplish. Expectations are going to be high once again coming off of a Super Bowl victory, but it should not be too much that the QB cannot handle.
With the 2020 season closing in, it is time to start looking at Mahomes and what he can do for bettors going into this season. Some of these prop bets could pay off, and others we are just looking at for the fun of it. Here are some Mahomes prop bets to take a closer look at for 2020.
O/U 1.5 completed left-handed passes
Everyone remembers Mahomes’ Monday Night Football magic against Denver during the 2018 season. As Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller rushed hard off the edge, Mahomes had to find a way to get a first down with his Chiefs down by three.
While being flushed out and not having enough time to make a full throw with his strong right arm, Mahomes creates a signature Monday Night moment by throwing with his left hand to the speedy Tyreek Hill for a third-down conversion.
With the first down, Kansas City would eventually go on to steal the game in the Mile-High City, 27-23. It is worth noting, though, Mahomes has yet to throw another left-handed in an actual game. We have seen trick throws from Mahomes in game situations and in practice, especially his signature no-look passes he likes to throw so casually.
While 1.5 may seem high for left-handed passes, nothing is out of character with Mahomes when it comes to doing whatever it takes to make a play. Whether it be escaping one of the best pass rushers in the league or just improvising on his own, anything is on the table with No. 15 under center.
The situation has to line up similarly to how it did in Denver back in 2018 for this to work. With division rivals like Denver and Los Angeles having such great pass rushing duos like Miller/Bradley Chubb and Joey Bosa/Melvin Ingram, there will be more than enough opportunities for off-hand throws.
