Red Sox offering wild Green Monster cardboard cutout promotion with perks

The Red Sox are getting creative in ticket sales without fans in attendance
Without fans in attendance, MLB organizations are losing millions in ticket sales for the 2020 season. However, some teams have gotten creative while seeking ways to make money during the COVID-19 shortened season. Enter the Boston Red Sox.
The Sox feature one of the toughest tickets in all of baseball, as fans get a chance to sit on top of the Green Monster for a hefty fee. While those seats aren’t available this season for any living, breathing thing, fans can buy a cardboard cutout for $500. While that price seems steep, stick with us.
The Red Sox cardboard cutout ticket comes with some perks
Now, assuming your cardboard cutout gets hit by a home run ball, you get an autographed baseball by the player who hit the home run, two 2021 tickets and a custom jersey with your name on it. The gamble, of course, is that the odds of your cutout being on the receiving end of a home run ball seems pretty slim. Thankfully, the deal is for a half-season, so that should offer up (theoretically) about 15 or so games to up your odds.
It’s not a perfect system, but given the fact that physically attending the game isn’t an option, it might just be the next best thing for Boston fans desperate to feel close to the action. To make matters even better, any money gained from this promotion goes to the Boston Red Sox foundation.
Most of us don’t have $500 to blow, but if you’re got that kind of spending money, it’s tough to find a better source as a baseball fan.
