Antonio Brown’s long journey back to the NFL may fall short

Former Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders (at the time) and New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown seems to be calling it quits. The once surefire Hall of Fame receiver sent out a suggestive tweet on Monday venting his frustration with the NFL, and literally saying the risk is no longer worth the reward for him in terms of a return to the gridiron.

Whether Brown is serious or merely looking for attention remains to be seen, as the four-time All-Pro still has the talent to contribute on any NFL team. However, his off-field actions have made him virtually untouchable, with a suspension from Roger Goodell likely awaiting any team that picks AB up.

Antonio Brown’s latest tweet strongly hints at retirement

The majority of the reporting surrounding Brown the last year-plus has been clouded with “what if’s,” meaning a significant lack of on-field news. Brown talked his way out of Pittsburgh, Oakland and New England, only for troubling legal news to prevent him from adding to his laundry list of potential suitors.

Brown’s frustration is real and mounting, but given some of the serious allegations against him (including sexual assault), it’s no wonder the NFL and Goodell are doing their due diligence.

At one time, Brown was the best receiver and route-runner in the NFL. That cannot be taken away from him. His livelihood, though, has been stripped away for now.
