Divaad Wilson is leaving Georgia right before camps are set to open for the 2020 season.
Will we get College Football in 2020? Divaad Wilson isn’t sticking around Georgia long enough to find out.
After losing JR Reed to the NFL, Georgia was banking on redshirt sophomore Divaad Wilson to emerge as a stud in 2020, likely in Kirby Smart’s flexible “STAR” position. Unfortunately, Wilson seems to have tired of life in Athens, and he’ll look to continue his college career elsewhere.
With Georgia training camp just around the corner, Wilson has confirmed that he will transfer away from the Bulldogs, citing a need to play closer to his home in Miami. Given his skill and athleticism, every major program in the state of Florida should be on the phone with him right now.

Divaad Wilson started to come into his own last year.
Wilson, a former 4-star recruit, chose Georgia over Alabama, Louisville, South Carolina, and Florida. While crossing the Florida/Georgia divide might be a bit of a shocking move, the Gators can’t be ruled out as a potential landing spot.
Wilson finally started to see extended playing time in 2019, recording 24 tackles. Wilson’s 2019 highlights include a four-tackle performance against Texas A&M and an interception of Notre Dame’s Ian Book during Georgia’s close win over the Irish.
Wilson stands 6-0 and 195 pounds, giving him the body type to line up on the outside or in the slot. Still coming into his own, some Florida program is going to grab a potential NFL Draft pick in Wilson now that he’s on the open market.

The excitement surrounding Jamie Newman and the offense is well deserved, but Georgia’s defense is what will likely carry them to another SEC East title. Losing a player like Wilson, who was expected to take on a bigger role in 2020, might sting, players like Tyson Campbell and Kelee Ringo in the secondary should minimize the effect of losing Wilson in between the white lines.
