Notre Dame football is already preparing for limited attendance.

The fate of the college football season remains up in the air at this point in time. That hasn’t stopped programs from planning as if there will indeed be games and preparing accordingly based on social distancing guidelines and procedures.

Notre Dame is one of the more premier programs in the country and that means a packed house every single game. The school has already taken a step toward having limited capacity at home games by doing away with the single-game ticket lottery system for 2020.

Notre Dame is being proactive with the college football season in flux

The Fighting Irish are already in a tough spot given the team is an independent in football. Teams switching to all-conference schedules would make a season that much more complicated for Notre Dame. So all the program can really do is just keep preparing as if the schedule will be played. Being proactive is always better than pretending like nothing bad is happening.

Announcing there will not be a ticket lottery also prevents fans from sinking money into tickets that will not be able to be used. Some fans may not be happy about this, but it is for everyone’s safety and that includes the players on the field.

Putting certain measures in place can potentially help the Notre Dame host a few games this season. However, no one knows for sure what will happen at this point. All the available time since March has quickly dried up as August is closing in.

Limited tickets being available may end up causing a nightmare for those in the program’s ticket operations department. Yet once again, the main concern is having games played at all. If the games are on, the tickets that are up for sale won’t take too long to be purchased.
