Tyreek Hill thinks Patrick Mahomes deserved a bigger contract.

After Patrick Mahomes signed the largest contract in American sports history earlier this month, not too many people were surprised at the sheer value of said deal. Mahomes teammate, Tyreek Hill, is one of those people. In an interview with TMZ, Hill claimed that he thought Mahomes was worth even more.

This could very well be true. Mahomes is a once-in-a-lifetime talent and the Chiefs likely would have paid anything to lock him down for a long, long time. At the end of the day, a 12-year, $503 million contract may have been a bargain for Mahomes.

Hill himself isn’t strapped for cash. Last September, he signed a three-year, $54 million contract. In 2020, he’ll make over $17 million, which means he’ll be the fourth highest-paid receiver in the league.

The Chiefs will be Super Bowl contenders for years to come.

In the same interview, Hill made it clear that he is thankful to have been drafted by an organization that values its players so much. He said that he’s happy that the front office recognizes that the Chiefs have a window over the next few seasons to win multiple championships.

The Chiefs have taken the necessary steps to make sure Mahomes has the supporting cast to continue to perform at a top level. This offseason, they re-signed receivers Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson to one-year deals and drafted standout LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in order to give their offense another boost. On defense, the Chiefs re-signed star defensive tackle Chris Jones to a four-year, $85 million contract last week. It’s clear that the Chiefs are adopting a win-now mentality.

The Chiefs enter the 2020 season as Vegas favorites to win the Super Bowl. That could be a running theme for the duration of Mahomes’ contract in Kansas City.
