Chase Young contract details with Washington have been revealed
Chase Young has signed a monster four-year rookie contract with Washington
With the NFL season (most likely) just around the corner, fans in Washington were wondering when the team would agree to terms with rookie sensation and former Ohio State star defensive end Chase Young. Well, the wait is officially over.
On Thursday morning, news broke Washington signed Young to his rookie contract and the numbers sure are eye-opening. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Young’s first pro deal is a contract of four years and $34.56 million.
Chase Young is expected to be a playmaker from the first moment he hits the field for Washington
In Young’s deal, he’s also getting a $22.697 million signing bonus, with all of it coming up front. It goes without saying, but Young must be pretty fired up right now. He was long expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but that of course all changed when Joe Burrow had his incredible Heisman Trophy-winning season, leaving the Bengals no choice but to take him.
Young landed with Washington and they’ve put the kind of money in front of him that lets him know they’re more than excited to see what he can do going up against opposing offensive linemen in the NFC East for years to come.
Once his rookie campaign does get underway, he’s expected to be an immediate playmaker for new head coach Ron Rivera, who has spoken highly of the defensive lineman for months now.
Young is coming off a sensational career for the Buckeyes. In his three years in Columbus, the 6-5, 264-pounder posted 90 tackles and 30.5 sacks.
In his senior campaign alone, he had 16.5 sacks. Now, he’ll look to bring that same aggression in the trenches to Washington. Fans sure can’t wait to see what the youngster can do.
