NBA Mock Draft 7.0: Is LaMelo Ball destined to join the New York Knicks?
By Ian Levy
This may be a huge reach for the Spurs, but I’m giving them credit for their long-demonstrated ability to look at a unique skill package and summon outcomes other teams don’t have the creativity or infrastructure to make real. San Antonio is going to be turning over at some point, shedding veterans like LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan and leaning on their young backcourt of Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker IV and Derrick White. Adding Pokusevski gives them an interesting frontcourt player to pair with that group, albeit on a slightly slower developmental timeline.
Pokusevski is a 7-foot who looks like he’d blow away in a stiff breeze. Luckily, he won’t turn 19 until December and the Spurs play all their games indoors. As you can see in the video above, Pokusevki handles the ball, moves extremely fluidly and looks very comfortable shooting off the dribble and making high-level reads. He’s young and playing against a lower level of competition in these videos but he’s an extremely interesting and skilled prospect who could blossom in San Antonio.
