Bryce Harper is ready for Opening Day.

The 2020 MLB season finally got underway Thursday night and a full Opening Day slate of games is set for Friday. The Philadelphia Phillies are home against the Miami Marlins and fans are hoping for a better final result in year two of Bryce Harper in Philly.

The star did post a 4.3 WAR in 2019, but his new team skidded to an 81-81 finish. An expanded postseason in 2020 should mean the Phillies find a way into the playoffs and that is something to get fans excited right away.

Another reason dropped Friday in the form of a hype video from Harper himself.

Bryce Harper’s hype video

Harper embraces his star status and shows plenty of emotion on the field. That is reflected in this 15-second video that features both on-field footage and some generic, intense staring at the camera for dramatic effect.

Some fans may say Harper had a down year in 2019 after he missed the All-Star Game for the first time since 2014 and for only the second time in his career. Yet he still launched 35 home runs, drove in 114 runs, had an .882 OPS, and had 36 doubles. The Phillies being average as a whole didn’t help his case much either.

The team is now poised to make the postseason in some capacity with eight teams from the National League headed to play in October. J.T. Realmuto is another star in the lineup and the Phillies added both Zack Wheeler and Didi Gregorius this offseason.

Next. Andrew McCutchen could be the X-factor for the Phillies. dark

The talent is there and so is the personality. Phillies fans are now hoping all the preseason hype turns into actual results and Harper leads the Phillies to the postseason for the first time since the 2011 season.
