5. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss the NFC Playoffs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have two strengths on their roster: pass catchers and Tom Brady’s mental capacity for the game. Unfortunately, the team that finished 7-9 a season ago also still has glaring weaknesses, especially on defense, which gave up the fourth-most points in the league a season ago.

And unfortunately, the lack of an adequate offensive line coupled with a lack of physical arm talent left at his advanced age, means that Tom Brady will end up having one of his least effective seasons in the NFL. This, despite knowing that his receiving corps is better than any he ever had in 20 seasons with the New England Patriots. The talent of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Breshard Perriman and OJ Howard mean very little if Brady does not have the time (offensive line) and if he does not have the arm strength to throw it far and/or accurately.

We deliberately neglected to mention the formerly retired tight end Rob Gronkowski. Maybe it is overly pessimistic, but expect Brady to try to force the ball a little too often to “Gronk”, and cost the offense drives as a result. Oh, and when was the last time a Brady led team excelled with a mediocre-to-bad rushing attack?

The Buccaneers will score fewer points in 2020 (despite committing far fewer turnovers), and give up more points than in 2019 as well. Result? Tampa Bay will be a worse team and will miss the playoffs.
