10 NFL predictions guaranteed to come true
4. The Jaguars, Raiders and Bucs will be in the market for a first-round quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft
Speaking of Tom Brady, three teams will most assuredly be looking for a first-round quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. Others will surely join them, but without a doubt, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and yes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be searching for new franchise quarterbacks next April.
For the Bucs, much of this is detailed above. Tom Brady is not leading another team, especially not one with a bad defense and no running game, to the Super Bowl. It will become painfully obvious during the 2020 season that Brady is done, and that Tampa Bay will be looking for a new signal-caller. While the team may not be drafting high enough to make a run at either Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence, the presumptive first and second quarterbacks (and overall picks) in the draft, but could make Trey Lance of North Dakota State the next face of the franchise. Maybe Brady sticks around for 2021 and mentors the kid, but holding your breath is ill-advised.
The Las Vegas Raiders have built up quite the stockpile of talented weapons on both offense and defense over the last three years, and the team is likely to be competitive in 2020 as a result. While making the playoffs seems like a long shot, given that they’re still behind the Chiefs and the Broncos in the AFC West, it would not be terribly surprising if Las Vegas found themselves in the conference’s top seven teams. But, the quarterback position is going to hold them back, and Jon Gruden will be fed up with it by next April (or more likely, much sooner). They may have to give up a king’s ransom to get into the top 10, but that’s proven to be worth it time-and-time again, as long as your evaluation is right.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are the worst football team in the NFL heading into the 2020 season. If the team has not already started its’ evaluation of Trevor Lawrence versus Justin Fields, it should do so post-haste.
