1. Golden State Warriors

There is no more logical offensive fit for Toppin’s skill set than Golden State’s cut-heavy offense. Toppin is an elite cutter, and putting him in the dunker spot to prey on defenses collapsing on Klay Thompson and Steph Curry is easy money. If Draymond Green is anything close to his former self next season as well, the defensive fit makes sense, allowing Toppin to play free safety matched up with an off-ball wing or limited big. Other situations around the league would complement Toppin’s skill set; a healthy Golden State core turns Toppin from a good vertical spacer who can playmake some into an approximation of his college production.

Of course, it’s unknown if the Golden State we knew will ever return, especially hinging on the health of Thompson and the athleticism of Green. But it’s the scheme that makes Toppin a good fit, not just the players themselves, and even without a full force roster, the Warriors are likely extract a higher-end outcome from Toppin than a lot of his other potential landing spots. If the Warriors fall out of the top four — and there’s a 48 percent chance they do — Toppin is a player who makes a lot of sense for them if LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman are off the board.
