3 lineman the Chiefs can sign after Laurent Duvernay-Tardif opted out
2. Cordy Glenn
Glenn was inevitably released by the Cincinnati Bengals in March, after shopping him on the trade market yielded nothing (as expected). He missed time early last season with a concussion, then the team suspended him one game for his comments regarding the handling of the injury.
Glenn has played left tackle throughout his career with the Buffalo Bills and the Bengals. But he was only graded out as the 38th-best offensive tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus last year, and approaching age-31 a move inside to guard could be in store. At 6-foot-6, 345 pounds, Glenn has the pure mass to make the move.
Duvernay-Tardif’s absence further thins what already looked to be a thin interior line for the Chiefs. Glenn isn’t a seamless fit in that regard, with no experience at guard. But he is experienced overall, and if only as a depth piece with theoretical versatility the Chiefs should already be looking to kick the tires here.
Since he has played on a litany of mediocre or bad teams in Buffalo and Cincinnati, Glenn would surely like to land with a contending team at this point in his career. He and the Chiefs look like a solid marriage if the price is right.
