Phillie Phanatic had way too much fun with a Marlins fan cutout (Video)
By John Buhler
The Phillie Phantic decided a Miami Marlins fan cutout was going to get it.
Here is the latest proof why the Phillie Phanatic is the greatest mascot of all time.
During the Philadelphia Phillies‘ final game vs. the National League East rival Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon, the Phillie Phanatic made his way over to a cardboard cutout of a Marlins fan. While the cutout was there to take in some Sunday afternoon baseball at his leisure, the Phillies’ mascot wanted to make sure this cutout was put in its place. The Phanatic held nothing back.

The Phanatic may have sprayed his own scent on that cutout from behind. He surely made the Marlins fan well acquainted with the inside of his shirt. And if that wasn’t enough, how about a healthy helping of some sweet, delicious silly string to the dome? If your best friend never did these three things to you growing up, that was not your best friend and you chose incorrectly.
Who knew the Phillies and the Marlins were rivals before this happened?
You know you’re the biggest punching bag in the division when a giant green dude who was too cool for school to be on Sesame Street cuts wind on you, buries your head in his jersey and then unleashes enough silly string to cover ever recognizable feature on your precious face. It might be mean, but it was sure entertaining and that poor cutout fan of The Fish did not see this coming.
We’ve had a lot of amazing interactions with cutouts between NL East rivals this weekend. Chipper Jones and his 16-year-old son Shea Stadium Jones took in that three-game series up in Flushing. Atlanta Braves outfielder Adam Duvall doinked a homer off the cutout of Jeff McNeil’s dog Willow. That poor girl just wanted to see her dad and the New York Mets play the Braves.
Will The Phanatic have way too much fun again with fans of other NL East clubs this year? We can only hope he does. He’s gotta be pretty lonely out there all by himself at Citizen Bank Park. Until he starts walking around with a face-painted volleyball whose name may or may not be Wilson, The Phanatic is fine hanging by himself, taking in some Phillies games and wreaking major havoc.
The Phanatic shows us how to become best friends with a cardboard cutout of an opposing team.
