Geno Smith hints at potential Antonio Brown-Seahawks move

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson has said that he wants the team to sign Brown, and Smith’s tweet suggests that it could be possible. The former All-Pro could potentially make the Seahawks the favorite in the NFC, but his messy exits from Pittsburgh, Oakland, and New England present some risk.

While it’s possible that Smith’s tweet means nothing, the situation is worth monitoring. Even if Brown signs with Seattle, he likely faces a suspension. However, having him for the playoffs could give Wilson the dominant receiving option that he has lacked for most of his career.

Should the Seahawks sign Antonio Brown?

After trading for Jets safety Jamal Adams, Seahawks general manager John Schneider is apparently dead-set on taking advantage of Seattle’s title window under Wilson. Signing Brown is a risky move, but in a stacked NFC West, it could set the Seahawks apart from their division rivals.

Although Brown likely would not come at a high cost due to off-field concerns, Seattle may be more inclined to bring back in-house free agents like Jadeveon Clowney and Josh Gordon, as Bob Condotta of Seattle Times Sports points out.

If Brown joins the Seahawks, he’d instantly become the top wideout in a talented group. Tyler Lockett has always been one of Wilson’s favorite targets, and DK Metcalf showed flashes of brilliance during his rookie year. Adding the former Steeler could not only give Seattle the best receiving corps in the NFL, but also the inside track to Wilson’s third Super Bowl appearance.
