Sabrina Ionescu went nuts in her 2nd career WNBA game.

As the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Sabrina Ionescu faces high expectations. The Oregon product made history during her NCAA days, and joining a New York Liberty squad that’s won a combined 17 games over the last two seasons, she represented the kind of franchise-changing star this team desperately needed.

While the Liberty have started off the new season 0-2, there’s no question that they have a star on their hands in Ionescu. Her debut over the weekend was somewhat underwhelming, as she scored just 12 points on 4-of-17 shooting from the floor and 0-for-8 shooting from 3-point land. But she more than righted the ship in her second career game.

On Wednesday night against the Dallas Wings, Ionescu dropped a game-high 33 points to go with seven assists and seven rebounds. She shot 11-for-20 from the floor, made six of her 10 3-pointers and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Sabrina Ionescu wasted no time shaking off the nerves from her first game in the pros.

Just take a look at some of the highlights. Ionescu sure doesn’t look like a rookie out there, because she was in her BAG. In the first eight minutes of this game, she already had 10 points. All night, she confounded defenders with a deadly step-back 3, attacked the rim with a lefty runner and just generally dominated on the offensive end:

According to ESPN Stats & Info, she’s the Liberty first player to record 30 points, five assists and five rebounds in a single game over the last five years.

Ionescu is well known for becoming the first player in the history of college basketball — male or female — to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in her career. Just two games into her early WNBA career, after shaking off the nerves in her Liberty debut, she already looks the part of franchise-altering superstar.
