Tennessee football could bring these five recruits to Knoxville.Ā
If head coach Jeremy Pruitt was ever going to get Tennessee football back to competing in the SEC and possibly even on a national level, he was always going to have to turn things around on the recruiting trail. To his credit, thatās exactly what heās done, so itās no wonder that the Vols are starting to show signs of real improvement. But Pruitt isnāt stopping now.
Tennessee has been crushing it thus far in terms of 2021 recruiting. They currently rank No. 5 in the 247Sports Composite team rankingsĀ with 23 commits already heading to Knoxville next season. The class, headlined by 5-star outside linebacker Terrence Lewis and 4-star defensive end Dylan Brooks, has the Vols future looking bright.
It has the potential to look brighter, though. And if Tennessee football can sign these five blue-chip recruits, we could see the Vols truly start to be back in the loaded SEC.
These five recruits could help Tennessee football to keep taking steps forward under head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
Entering the 2020 season, one of the things that Tennessee is going to be able to hang their hat on is the play of their offensive line. In the simplest terms, the Vols might have one of the best units in the trenches of any team in the country. The concerning part for the program, though, is that they are likely going to be left rebuilding almost the entire group after this season.
Thatās why landing a recruit like William Parker is extremely important for Pruitt and his team. He has the potential to be a key cog in the offensive line almost immediately. Yes, heās only a 3-star recruit and the No. 31 offensive tackle in the 2021 class (the No. 405 overall prospect) but he has the frame and the ability to be even better than that.
Parker (who changed his name from William Griffin) pops off of the tape simply because of the size he possesses. He tips the scales at an impressive 6-foot-5, 325 pounds, which gives him the requisite build to see the field sooner rather than later. Yes, he needs some technical development but the physical tools you canāt teach are there for him.
What makes Parker even more critical for the Vols is that heās an in-state player. For Pruitt to truly have this program back on the SEC and national map, he canāt lose in-state studs like Parker to foes such as Florida and Alabama, both of whom are interested in the 3-star tackle. The coaching staff undoubtedly knows that and should be able to ink the Nashville native.
