Adding a versatile trench player would help Tennessee football
Of the players that Tennessee could still sign to their 2021 recruiting class, Rayshaun Benny might be the most intriguing. That not only has to do with the fact that he would give the Vols another talented 4-star recruit to their current top-five class in the country but also because of the options that the Michigan native would give the team moving forward in filling holes.
Benny is listed as an offensive tackle recruit, ranked No. 19 in the country at the position for the 2021 class and the No. 189 overall prospect as well. And as mentioned with Parker, the Volunteers could have a serious need on the offensive line after the 2020 season, meaning that Benny could be in line to play immediately at tackle if needed.
What makes Benny such a fascinating potential addition for Tennessee is that he could also potentially play on the defensive line for them. He played on both sides of the ball at Oak Park in high school and excelled in both areas. Should the Vols shore up the O-line elsewhere or if Benny wants to play on defense in college, Tennessee could offer him that opportunity.
No matter which side of the ball Benny plays on, though, the Vols are very much in the mix. The 4-star prospect recently named his top four and Tennessee was one of the quartet that he mentioned. The Michigan Wolverines might be the current favorite but, with a late push, the Vols might land the ultra-versatile player.
