Another defensive end might land with USC football for 2021

Even if USC ends up landing Korey Foreman, that doesn’t mean that they can stop focusing on the defense and building up that side of the ball, an area of play that has really plagued this team in recent years. Subsequently, it wouldn’t be a shock to anyone to see them land another high-end defensive end recruit, namely a player like Aaron Armitage.

The Blairstown, NJ native ranks as the No. 15 strongside defensive end and the No. 197 overall recruit in the 2021 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. But while he may be listed as the same position as Foreman, the 4-star prospect offers a completely different type of game than his peer and potential teammate at the collegiate level.

Measuring in at 6-foot-4, 242 pounds, Armitage’s game is almost wholly predicated on speed right now — and he has plenty of juice when he’s rushing the passer. He’s raw in terms of his technique as he needs to develop more pass-rush moves to be more effective playing in college but the way he moves with his length makes him a potential problem for any opposing offense.

Though Armitage has plenty of interest from teams all over the country in Power 5 conferences, most notably with Florida, Oregon and Stanford involved, he’s more of a sure thing for USC than Foreman by a wide margin. Crazier things have happened than Armitage not ending up with the Trojans but the safe bet would be for him suiting up for USC in 2021.
