Michigan football bold prediction No. 3: Obviously, it’s all about beating Ohio State

If you asked just about any Michigan fan about what the Wolverines would do under Harbaugh in his first half-decade at the helm of his alma mater, the answer would’ve likely had to do something with the number of championships he was going to win. Now fans are just wishing that the head coach could get them a win against the biggest rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Yes, going 0-for in one of college football’s biggest rivalry is bad enough in itself. However, this isn’t just a rivalry of geography but also one that, more often than not, holds the implication of which team goes to the Big Ten Championship Game from the division. So it’s no surprise that Harbaugh has not made it to the conference title game in his tenure because he can’t beat the Buckeyes.

With the lack of high-level and national success, though, this year’s battle with Ohio State is perhaps the most important yet. Yes, in a shortened season, the difference between a win and a loss could be the difference between a College Football Playoff berth or not this year. But also, it could mean the difference between Harbaugh sticking around or not.

Harbaugh is running out of excuses and, though the Wolverines have their questions, they have enough talent to compete with just about any team in the country. So if they are again blown out by the rival Buckeyes, it might be time to wave goodbye.

That qualifies as a pretty important game, right?
