Napoli signs Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen from Lille in record €50m deal.

Victor Osimhen has made his move to Napoli.
Napoli need a major injection alongside Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne up front if they want to keep race with Italy’s best teams, and they may have just signed a game-changing young striker from France in Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen will officially be playing in Serie A for Napoli next season, as Gennaro Gattuso and the Italian giants agreed on a €50 million deal with French side Lille for the Nigerian international. Osimhen is now the most expensive player in club history, breaking the record of €42 million set last summer by former PSV winger and Mexican international Hirving Lozano.
Victor Osimhen is one of the game’s most promising young strikers due to his speed.
Osimhen, originally a product of Wolfsburg, was signed by Les Douges after scoring 20 times in 36 games for Belgian side Charleroi. In his first and only season in Ligue 1, Osimhen netted 13 times in 27 games, adding another five goals in domestic cup and Champions League play. Osimhen is viewed as the future of the Nigerian international team. While he has yet to score, the pacy striker has already been capped nine times before his 22nd birthday.
Osimhen is an incredibly fast striker with the power to tear a hole through the net and the ability to create when the ball is at his feet. He needs to work on seeing the whole field when in possession of the ball, but Napoli should be overjoyed after picking up such a talented prospect.
The biggest question surrounding Osimhen is if he will be able to beat out leading scorer Arkadiusz Milik for playing time, as Gattuso is a fan of using a 4-3-3 formation with one lone striker. If Osimhen gets proper playing time in the starting lineup and is nurtured by Gattuso, Napoli might have another elite attacker to add to their already growing stable as they try to get back into the Champions League in 2020-21.
