Travis Kelce was not pleased to hear that his quarterback wasn’t the number one entry on the NFL Top 100.

Not many football fans would have Patrick Mahomes fourth on the list of the league’s best players, but that’s where he was slotted in on the NFL Top 100 rankings, which is absolute insanity.

Most people when ranking the best players in the league would have Mahomes at number one, or at the very least number two, but fourth? That’s ridiculous.

Travis Kelce, Mahomes’ tight end for the past two years in Kansas City, was not happy when he found out that his quarterback was fourth on the list, rather than at number one where he belonged.

Kelce was quoted having this to say about the placement,

"“It’s TV land, man,” Kelce told reporters on Thursday during a conference call. “It is what it is.”~~~“You can’t tell me there’s a better quarterback in the NFL,” Kelce said. “It’s a fun time to be a Kansas City Chief and that’s because number 1-5 is in the building.”"

Kelce isn’t wrong to be perplexed by the ranking, as Mahomes — at just 24 years of age — led his Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years while winning the game’s MVP title in the process. Every single playoff game this year, Mahomes and his Chiefs trailed by double-digit points, but the champion led them in comeback fashion every time.

When he says “You can’t tell me there’s a better quarterback”, it’s really tough to think of someone who has done as much for their team in such a short amount of time as Mahomes has, especially for an organization like the Chiefs who hadn’t won a home playoff game in over 20 years before Mahomes got to town. They hadn’t been to the Super Bowl in five decades and Mahomes got them there in just his second year as a starter!

The three players ranked above Mahomes were Lamar Jackson (number one), Russell Wilson (number two), and Aaron Donald (number three).

Jackson won the league MVP this past year and deservingly so, but when it came to his performance in the playoffs, he fizzled and faded once again. Wilson is a reliable player, but isn’t better than Mahomes. Donald, I get being ranked that high simply because he’s as impactful as a player can be on the defensive side of the ball.

Next. Is Lamar Jackson Really Better Than Patrick Mahomes?. dark

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, and the NFL Top 100 accomplished what they wanted to by getting everyone riled up about this, but at the end of the day, Travis Kelce is preaching the truth here. Patrick Mahomes is far and away the best player in the league and his tight end has his back.
