The Chicago White Sox are calling up second baseman Nick Madrigal.
The Chicago White Sox have assembled one of the best collections of young stars in the entire league, and the crown jewel of their minor league system, second baseman Nick Madrigal, is getting his first shot in the pros.
Per Jeff Passan, the White Sox will call up their top prospect to add a little more spice to the top of their lineup, as Madrigal bosts tremendous bat control and speed. He is expected to make his MLB debut in Kansas City against the Royals.

Nick Madrigal had a fantastic career in the minor leagues and in college at Oregon State.
Madrigal might only stand 5-7, but the former Oregon State star can flat out rake. Madrigal hit .361 during his time in Corvallis, was drafted No. 4 overall in the 2018 MLB draft, and proceeded to hit .309 with 43 stolen bases in 163 minor league games. Madrigal had long since proven that he is ready to take on MLB pitching.
With Madrigal at second, 2019 batting champ Tim Anderson at shortstop, and the improving Yoan Moncada at third, the White Sox might have their infield sorted out for the next decade if Madrigal fulfills his immense potential. Anyone earning favorable comparisons to a young Tony Gwynn should be in for a long pro career.

Madrigal isn’t going to be the most OPS-friendly player due to his lack of power and walks, but he could hit .300 with his eyes closed against minor league pitching, and that ability to put the ball in play is almost unmatched across the entire minor league system. Look for him to hit the ground running in the pros and compete for All-Star teams somewhere in the near future.
