4. The secondary oozes young talent

Super Bowl contenders in the modern NFL need to be able to stop their opponents from throwing the football. Having a high-quality pass rush is part of that formula, but it doesn’t relieve teams from the need to employ quality defensive backs all over the secondary.

The Browns don’t have a veteran group to rely on, but they are blessed with a lot of young talent. Denzel Ward is the star of the group at his cornerback position. He may not be an absolute shut down guy at this point in his career, but the Browns can comfortably deploy him in man coverage against anyone in the league.

Greedy Williams made real strides as a rookie on the other side. He’s not the most physical corner in football, but his length and speed give him a chance to develop into a No. 1 option in time. At the very least, he profiles as a solidly above-average No. 2 cornerback for the Browns in 2020.

The addition of second round pick Grant Delpit in the secondary could also pay off in a big way for the Browns. He was a consensus top-10 selection heading into his final season at LSU. Some inconsistent film as a junior caused his stock to fall. If the Browns can help him maximize his potential they could have a future Pro Bowler on their hands. Add it all up and Cleveland has a lot of intriguing young talent to work with in their secondary.
