Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger revealed he tore three flexor tendons off the bone leading up to his season-ending elbow surgery.

With Steelers players back in Pittsburgh getting themselves ready for the new season, there is no one fans are happier to see with a smile on his face than Ben Roethlisberger. After missing virtually all of the 2019 season due to elbow surgery, Big Ben is back in town and throwing the pigskin around like the good old days.

As it turns out, though, Roethlisberger knows just how lucky he is to be back with his teammates. While we all assumed it was just season-ending elbow surgery for the future Hall of Famer last year, he revealed it was much more serious than that.

So, Roethlisberger tore three tendons off the bone? Just even looking at the tweet above from Ian Rapoport with the details might make a person cringe. Per Roethlisberger, no quarterback has even come back from an injury of this magnitude. At the same time, Roethlisberger isn’t your average signal-caller.

The Pittsburgh legend is about to begin his 17th campaign in the NFL, all with the Steelers. He appeared in only two games last year due to his elbow surgery, throwing for 351 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.

In 2018, he put up video game-type numbers, throwing for 5,219 yards and 34 touchdowns. Now, Big Ben is hoping to remind everyone of just how great he can be with the ball in his hands this fall. Keep in mind, the man has won two Super Bowls.

The road back to the field has not been easy for Roethlisberger, but he looks ready to rock. Will he be able to return to his old form? Steelers fans can’t wait to find out the answer to that question.
