If you can draft one Pittsburgh Steelers player for fantasy, who is it?

While the Pittsburgh Steelers may be a playoff team in the AFC this year, this looks to be a defense-first football team, led by defensive stars such as outside linebackers Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt, as well as free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. However, who should you trust to draft on the offensive side of the ball in fantasy football this year?

The Fantasy Footballers looked at a few top playmakers on the offensive side of the ball for the Steelers and here’s where their collective heads are at. In terms of average draft position, you will find wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster at the bottom of the third round in a snake draft, running back James Conner in the fourth round and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the 11th round.

Check out The Fantasy Footballers for all their advice.

Overall, it seems that the guys are tepid at best on taking Smith-Schuster that high in a draft. If he does slide into the fourth round, he might be a fantastic pickup for you as WR2. However, you may not want to have him as your WR1 because there is so much variance to be had with him, especially if he’s not getting consistently strong quarterback play out of Roethlisberger.

Will any Pittsburgh Steelers help you win in fantasy football this season?

So what this really comes down to is do you see more value with Conner coming off the board in the fourth round or Roethlisberger in the 11th round? While wide receiver Diontae Johnson has a 10th-round draft projection, his upside is not what Smith-Schuster’s is presently, although he could be a good, late-round get for you if you have a loaded fantasy roster at wide receiver.

When healthy, Conner is a fantasy dynamo. He doesn’t just get you points in fantasy football, he wins you games each week. Conner’s productivity is a major reason the Steelers felt comfortable about letting Le’Veon Bell go a few years ago. However, the best bet in terms of value might be Roethlisberger in the 11th round and here is why.

If you wait until the end of a snake draft and take quarterback, odds are you have a loaded roster at running back, wide receiver and tight end. Depending on how Roethlisberger bounces back from his torn UCL, he may be as good as a QB3 in fantasy football. Only two years ago did he lead the league in passing. There is an absurd amount of value with Roethlisberger in latter rounds.
