Amari Cooper impressed with CeeDee Lamb so far

The Dallas Cowboys’ receiving core is going to be absolutely insane.
Amari Cooper secured his spot as the Dallas Cowboys‘ No. 1 wide receiver when the ‘Boys gave him a massive contract to keep him on their roster earlier in the offseason. However, Cooper, who posted a career-high 1,189 yards last season, will have a backup better than most team’s primary targets.
The Cowboys drafted receiver CeeDee Lamb with No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and ProFootballTalk reported that Cooper is excited about Lamb’s potential and his ability to learn quickly. The former Oklahoma Sooners star was a steal for the Cowboys in the draft, and he could easily join Cooper and fellow receiver Michael Gallup in the 1,100-plus receiving yards club.
CeeDee Lamb brings a ton of talent to the table
In college, the rookie receiver was a standout on a strong Oklahoma team. In his sophomore and junior seasons, he had over 60 receptions for more than 1,100 receiving yards. His junior season was particularly exceptional. Lamb posted 14 touchdowns and 1,327 receiving yards and averaged more than 21 yards per reception. He was also named a 2019 consensus All-American.
Lamb isn’t crazy fast — he ran a 4.50 second 40-yard dash at the Combine, which is about average for a receiver — but his pure football skill is unmatched. He excels in his agility and field vision, and he has great hands, which will make him a good match next to Cooper, who is faster but tends to have butterfingers.
Lamb would be a huge asset on any team, but with mentors like Cooper and Gallup playing alongside him, he’s in an incredible position to thrive very early in his professional career. With this many options for Dak Prescott, expect the Cowboys’ offense to be nearly unstoppable.
