Justin Hilliard and Shaun Wade had good news to tell their parents today.
Justin Hilliard and Shaun Wade are Ohio State football captains for the 2020 NCAA season.
Hilliard, Wade and a handful of other Buckeyes were named captains on Tuesday. After suffering seemingly injury after injury Hilliard got to call his dad Carl and tell him the good news. If you don’t cry after watching this video of Justin telling his father the good news, how sure are we you even have a soul as a person? This has to be hitting you in all the feels. What incredible moments.

The moment he got to call his dad to tell him he’d been voted captain made it all worth it.#GoBuckeyes #H2 pic.twitter.com/WyRXRpdDoC
Hilliard later quote tweeted the awesome video Ohio State football put together to capture this magical moment for the sixth-year player and former five-star recruit. Look for him to have a special final season in Columbus. “Couldn’t have done it alone. Beyond grateful to have these people in my corner!” wrote Hilliard on Twitter.

Wade, who opted to come back to school for his senior year, got to tell his mom Gwen the great news about him being named a captain as well. Given many defensive backs decide to go pro after their junior or redshirt sophomore seasons in the Ohio State backfield, Wade was rewarded with his captainship ahead of his fourth season with the program. His mom sure was proud of him.

Will Justin Hilliard and Shaun Wade leave Columbus as national champions?
Even in a 10-game, conference-only season for the Big Ten, the Buckeyes are the favorites to win the conference title and reach the College Football Playoff. With Heisman Trophy frontrunner Justin Fields at quarterback and newcomer running back Trey Sermon from Oklahoma on offense, very few teams will be able to keep pace with the Buckeyes offensively.
Because the Buckeyes are able to recruit on an SEC blue-blood level, they can win their first national title since 2014. We expect the Buckeyes to face the Clemson Tigers in the national title bout unless Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide has something to say about that. With seasoned veterans like Hilliard and Wade on defense, Ohio State has the balance to win it all.
For now, Hilliard’s dad and Wade’s mom must be the proudest parents on the face of the earth.
