Packers are surprisingly the favorites to sign Antonio Brown

Is Antonio Brown ready to take the Lambeau Leap with the Green Bay Packers?
Antonio Brown is looking to get back into the NFL, possibly with…the Green Bay Packers?
Yes, “Mr. Big Chest” is on the precipice of getting back into the league. The seven-time Pro Bowler had one of the most tumultuous seasons you’ll ever see last year. He was traded to the then-Oakland Raiders, burned his feet in a cryo chamber, had issues with his helmet and then was released before even playing a game with the Silver and Black. Hard Knocks captured everything.
Brown spent a grand total of one game with the 2019 New England Patriots before he was released by the team in early September. Now that Brown has been levied an eight-game suspension by the NFL for his off-the-field issues, teams will be lining up for his services. According to SportsBetting.ag, the Packers headline a list of nine teams trying to sign him.
Here are the latest betting odds for where Antonio Brown will sign in 2020.
- Green Bay Packers: +200
- Seattle Seahawks: +250
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +300
- Baltimore Ravens: +400
- Philadelphia Eagles: +750
- Indianapolis Colts: +1000
- Jacksonville Jaguars: +1000
- Chicago Bears: +1200
- Cincinnati Bengals: +1500
Admittedly, seeing the Packers come in at the best odds to land Brown at +200 is a bit strange. The Packers need some more offensive firepower on the perimeter beyond Aaron Rodgers’ No. 1 target Davante Adams, but the three other teams Green Bay edges out in the top are certainly raising some eyebrows.
Brown worked out with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson this summer. Seattle has serious Super Bowl aspirations but may need a little more offensive juice to get over the hump. The Seahawks find themselves at No. 2 for Brown’s services at +250. Perhaps having two quality receivers with Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf has Seattle knocked down a peg over Green Bay.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come in third for Brown’s services at +300. He is a Hollywood, Florida native. His former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now leading the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay may already have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but adding Brown to the mix would be fascinating. The question is if head coach Bruce Arians wants to go full-blown “no risk, no biscuit” here.
Coming in fourth is the Baltimore Ravens at +400. The Ravens are a Super Bowl contender in the AFC with an explosive playmaker at quarterback in reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Brown’s younger cousin Marquise “Hollywood” Brown plays for Baltimore. This could be a sneaky-good landing spot for him, as it would certainly make the arch-rival Pittsburgh Steelers furious.
Overall, if Brown does play in the NFL this season, look for him to link up with one of those four teams. If we want to go outside of the top four, how about the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 5 at +750? Carson Wentz ran out of receivers by the end of the season last year. That’s probably not going to happen in 2020, but the Eagles are too good to be that ravaged by injuries again.
If Brown signs with the Packers, that would make Rodgers a happy man in the second half as he’s suspended for the first eight games of the season.
