Fantasy PGA: 2020 PGA Championship Picks and Analysis
Welcome to the first major of the year: The 2020 PGA Championship. DraftKings will be hosting another Millionaire Maker for the 2020 PGA Championship, and this article is meant to help you win the $1,000,000 prize!
The 2020 PGA Championship has a stacked field this week, as every top PGA pro will be vying for a piece of the $12,000,000 purse. Everybody who is anybody will be in the field this week, so the tournament is truly up for grabs.
Congrats to Michael Thompson on his victory at the 3M, Rich Warenski at the Barracuda Championship and congrats to Justin Thomas for taking down the WGC St. Jude. It was nice to finally get 6 golfers through the cut (even though it was a no cut event 6/6 is still a feat). We will see if the 2020 PGA Championship is kind to us as far as 6/6 goes. No weeks off on the PGA Tour, as the Tour moves from Memphis to SanFrancisco this week for the 2020 PGA Championship.
Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship last year at Bethpage Black, blitzing the field and sporting accuracy off-the-tee, excellent approaches even out of thick rough, and precise putting. PGA Championships are not generally as tough of conditions as a US Open, but still test the best players in the world. Weather in San Francisco will be the determining factor whether the course plays over par or under. It’s going to be colder than you think, and coastal winds can swirl at any time. Look for the winner to flirt with 10 under.
TPC Harding Park is playing over 7,200 yards and will play as a par-70. The course sports water (it sits on a lake), thick rough, and a healthy mix of trees and natural areas. The fairways are average and the greens are small. 2015 was the last PGA tournament at TPC Harding Park, and Rory McIlroy won the match play format. In 2005, Tiger Woods and John Daly battled it out in a playoff with Tiger winning on the second playoff hole. We return to Bent grass this week, which is a huge advantage to the golfers who are familiar with the surface. What I will put a lot of emphases this week is difficult courses, approach, Par-4 scoring, and Poa putting. My estimate is that the winner of this tournament posts a 10-under.
