Bryce Harper has exited against the Yankees with a night game on the way.
In an 11-7 win for the Phillies over the surging New York Yankees, Bryce Harper suffered a scare that, fortunately, looks to be nothing more.
After reaching base on a fielder’s choice, manager Joe Girardi thought his star outfielder had suffered some form of a leg injury amid his at-bat, bringing the trainer onto the field and removing Harper from the game. Prior to the apparent injury, Harper was playing well too, with a two-run home run earlier on the day.

Girardi signaled for trainer as he went to check on Harper at 1B after he reached on a fielder's choice during top half of the inning. Harper stayed in the game at the time.
Worth noting Phils up 11-3 in 6th & have Game 2 tonight
As Meghan Montemurro reports, the decision does seem to be more precautionary than anything, as the Phillies have another matchup scheduled with the Yankees for tonight where it would be best to have Harper at full strength.
That seems to be exactly the case too, as Harper has been included in the Phillies lineup for tonight.

As the MLB adds double-headers to its slate, teams will need to be cautious moving forward, just as the Phillies look to be with Bryce Harper.
Similar to what we have seen in the NBA, as the pace of the season wears its toll, players will likely begin to feel the effects of it, with sudden injuries emerging out of ordinary baseball situations.
In a sixty-game season, losing a star such as Bryce Harper for any amount of time would be detrimental for the Phillies, hence the extra caution taken in addressing his injury concern. Harper hasn’t had the best start to the season and keeping him on the sidelines would only slow things down as he attempts to get into a flow and lead the Phillies to the postseason.
Fortunately, all seems to be good for Harper as he faces off against Aaron Judge and the Yanks tonight.
