This MLB offseason, there was no team under more ridicule than the Chicago Cubs. General manager Theo Epstein spent little to no money in free agency and dangled third baseman Kris Bryant in trade discussions. Who’d have thought this strategy would lead to a 10-3 start to the season? Not us, that’s for sure!
When looking at the NL Central standings, the Milwaukee Brewers are in an expected slump, the St. Louis Cardinals are still sitting on the sidelines due to a COVID-19 outbreak, the Cincinnati Reds are underperforming incredibly and the Pittsburgh Pirates are, well, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Taking all of that into consideration, the Central is Chicago’s to lose. So, now it’s time for Epstein to load up on talent at the trade deadline to ensure that the squad can make a push to the World Series this year. Here are three trades the Cubs should make for that goal to become a reality.
