Mitchell Schwartz was wary of some products sent his way.

Mitchell Schwartz is one of the more elite offensive tackles in the NFL and is one of many reasons why the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl this past season. He has never missed a game in his career and was essentially gifted to the Chiefs after the Cleveland Browns gave up on him back in early 2016.

Schwartz is elite and durable so opponents are looking for any way to slow him down. The offensive tackle revealed one opponent may have tried a little bit of sabotage.

Some suspicious snacks showing up right before the start of drug testing? Sounds fishy. However, Schwartz did go on to say he was just joking about the whole opponent sabotage thing.

This situation brings to light just how careful NFL players have to be when it comes to certain supplements. Getting a high-protein smoothie can show up as a banned substance and lead to a suspension. This also reveals how silly the testing program can be given different circumstances.

Schwartz was a first-team All-Pro in 2018 and has made the second-team three times during his tenure in Kansas City. And throughout all this success he has never dealt with any drug-related suspension. Serving one now due to a suspicious snack would be quite the odd twist.

It is likely that someone like Schwartz is sent different supplements for free all the time. Companies may be looking for a partnership without considering the fact professional athletes can’t just eat random things. That is true for anyone receiving an unsolicited package. Or at least it should be true.
