Josh Reddick gets that the Oakland Athletics don’t like the Houston Astros.

Josh Reddick hopes the Oakland Athletics don’t hit him when they face the Houston Astros again.

Houston is in a complete tailspin right now. The Astros have fallen to 6-9 on the 2020 MLB season and have lost their last five ball games. Houston went on the road and was swept by division rival Oakland over the weekend. To make matters even worse, Athletics centerfielder Ramón Laureano was drilled twice by Astros pitchers, resulting in a bench-clearing brawl by both teams on Sunday.

With only AL West and NL West teams on their schedule this season, Reddick is hoping the Athletics don’t retaliate by drilling guys like him in the back, simply because they play for the Astros. He told USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale, “We don’t want to have targets on our back as big as we already do right now.” If that’s not wishful thinking, what is wishful thinking really?

We’re only a quarter of the way through the Houston Astros’ revenge tour!

At 6-9, the Astros have “survived” one-quarter of their 60-game revenge tour gauntlet. The other 29 teams are less than thrilled with their banging on trash cans nonsense from back in 2017. Teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers who lost to them in the 2017 World Series haven’t forgotten about it, and neither have AL West division rivals like the A’s. 45 more games of this. Buckle up!

Even though the Astros find themselves in third place, they would not qualify for the AL postseason under the eight-team format. Though the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels have been worse than them in the division, only the Arizona Diamondback have a worse record than them out of the NL West. The Snakes handed them their first two losses of this slide.

Next. Benches clear as Ramón Laureano is hit by pitch. dark

So when will the Astros face the Athletics again for what will surely be a fireworks show on the baseball diamond? In 19 days, the Astros will “welcome” the Athletics to Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas for a three-game series to close out the August part of the 60-game season schedule. It’ll be hotter than hell in Texas, and the intensity will be at a boiling point in Houston.

Reddick may not want to see the A’s retaliate, but they’re mad and baseball players are petty.
