Mark Richt defended former Georgia QB and coach Mike Bobo.
Few Colorado State fans have a positive opinion of former head coach Mike Bobo after two straight poor seasons led to his dismissal. Whatever goodwill Bobo still had with this fanbase has been sucked out after a report in the Coloradoan claimed that several players asserted Bobo and his coaching staff made racially insensitive remarks.
Mark Richt, under whom Bobo was a coach for 14 seasons, rebuked the accusations made in this report, claiming that he never received a single complaint from a parent, high school coach, or player about Bobo’s behavior. It’s not surprising to see Richt stick up for his guy, even in the face of so many serious allegations.
Mike Bobo was on my UGA staff for the first 14 yrs that I was there. During those years I cannot remember receiving 1 complaint from a parent, HS coach or more importantly student athlete about how he was treated by Mike. The same goes for any staff member. Mike blessed UGA!

Mike Bobo’s tenure in Fort Collins ended in disgrace.
Bobo was a former Georgia quarterback who served as either quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator from 2001 to 2014 under Richt. After replacing Jim McElwain as the head coach at Colorado State, Bobo went 7-6 in each of his first three seasons. Quarterback Nick Stevens was solid, while receivers Michael Gallup and Olabisi Johnson have both become quality players in the NFL.
Injuries at quarterback limited Bobo to just seven wins over the last two seasons. After only 12,000 people attended his final home game, Bobo and the school mutually agreed to part ways he has since become South Carolina’s offensive coordinator.
In addition to Bobo being accused of some really heinous things during his time as Rams head coach, his replacement, former Boston College commander Steve Addazio, has been accused of disregarding coronavirus safety protocols in a bombshell report that exposed a toxic culture in Fort Collins.
Blockbuster reporting by @MilesBlumhardt on the flaming disaster at Colorado State. Ugly allegations hitting both Addazio and Mike Bobo. AD Joe Parker looks incredibly weak. https://t.co/vkOaFlJaPA

South Carolina released a statement claiming they are doing “their due diligence” on Bobo after these accusations.
If these accusations are proven to be true, it’ll be hard to see an avenue for Bobo to get back into D-I coaching.
