Indians’ Zach Plesac sent home after violating health and safety protocols.
Zach Plesac broke MLB’s health and safety protocols over the weekend and he has been promptly removed and sent home by his team, the Cleveland Indians according to a report from The Athletic.
The pitcher was reportedly out with friends in Chicago on Saturday night and the team responded to those actions promptly and responsibly. The team, trying to prevent an outbreak that recently rolled through the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals, immediately isolated Plesac from the team. He’ll be quarantined for 72 hours and tested several times before the team will determine when he can return to play.
Zach Plesac was supposed to report to management
The new updated protocol said players must report to the team before leaving.
“This isn’t going to be a ‘run to daddy’ kind of thing. We’re going to handle it in-house. This is a player discipline thing. Keep the coaches, front office kind of out of it,” pitcher Mike Clevinger said. “It puts a little extra accountability, kind of. Just having that trust in your teammates is a big thing. It’s a big thing on the field. If you feel your teammate doesn’t trust you off the field how are you going to feel like he trusts you when you get between the lines?”
Plesac is scheduled to start for the team next Saturday, there’s no word if that start will happen as planned.
