These are the 2 Big Ten football teams that still wanted to play

In a reported vote, two Big Ten teams voted against the cancelation of the fall football season
The 2020 college football season currently sits in flux due to the complications of playing a campaign amidst a global pandemic. In recent days, football conferences have pivoted from going through with the season to canceling it altogether.
On Monday morning, sports radio host Dan Patrick was told by a source that the Big Ten’s season will be canceled as early as Tuesday. Patrick says that 12 of the 14 schools in the conference voted in favor of not holding the fall campaign. The two universities who want to play this year were Iowa and Nebraska, both of whom play in the conferences West Division.
What’s next for the Big Ten?
There’s still plenty of uncertainty surrounding the potential cancellation of the season. Even though Michigan was one of the universities against playing this fall, Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh released a statement to let the world know he wants the team to play, considering the program had a very low COVID-19 positivity percentage.
Last month, the Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren announced that the 2020 season would strictly feature inter-conference games. They’d be able to follow their own protocols and keep travel across the United States to a minimum. But last week, Warren did express pessimism in their ability to play the season without pauses or roadblocks.
With the fall season out of the picture, will the Big Ten pivot to the spring if there’s a working COVID-19 vaccine? Or will the likes of Iowa or Nebraska opt to join another conference? There’s the possibility that a conference like the SEC will bring in teams from other conferences if they intend to go through with the season.
We’ll get a solid answer once the Big Ten releases their official statement, which could come on Tuesday, as Patrick hinted on his radio program.
