What are the odds Justin Fields plays another snap for Ohio State football?

The Big Ten postponed its football season to the spring, leaving Justin Fields in a tough spot.

Fields was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ryan Day’s team was projected to win the Big Ten Championships and reach the College Football Playoff for the fourth time in seven seasons. However, no Big Ten football this fall means Fields will have to make the best decision for himself and his family. Will he even consider playing spring ball in 2021?

Justin Fields should not play a snap of Big Ten spring football whatsoever

There is absolutely nothing to be gained by Fields taking another snap as an amateur in 2021. If he were to transfer for the second year in a row and get immediate eligibility, he should go back down south and play in the ACC or SEC. Fields projects as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he only has one year’s worth of starts at the collegiate level. The guy needs some reps badly.

We may see a mass exodus of players hitting the transfer portable in the Big Ten, as well as in the Pac-12, assuming commissioner Larry Scott decides he needs to do what Kevin Warren just did on Tuesday afternoon. While the Big Ten wants to play in the spring, good luck with that in the snow. You’re not fooling anyone, and all these players will never play another snap for Ohio State.

  • Linebacker Baron Browning, senior
  • Offensive lineman Wyatt Davis, junior
  • Quarterback Justin Fields, junior
  • Offensive lineman Josh Myers, junior
  • Offensive lineman Thayer Munford, senior
  • Wide receiver Chris Olave, junior
  • Running back Trey Sermon, senior
  • Running back Master Teague, sophomore
  • Cornerback Shaun Wade, junior

All nine of these Buckeyes standouts have a shot at going in the top-100 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Fields, wide receiver Chris Olave and cornerback Shaun Wade are projected to go in the first round. The other six players should be off the board by the end of day two. Either they transfer and play down south or they need to get ready for their NFL futures. That’s it for them at Ohio State.

Today is absolutely beyond devastating for college football, the Big Ten and especially The Ohio State University. Buckeye Nation just had a national title-contending team ripped away from them. Too bad the Big Ten university presidents decided to give them the 1994 Montreal Expos treatment. Though they eventually won a World Series, it was as the Washington Nationals.

Look for Fields to hit the transfer portal immediately or hire and agent and get ready for the draft.
