The Lightning radio announcer had the perfect reaction to Brayden Point’s game winner.

After Brayden Point finally ended last night’s marathon five-overtime game, Lightning radio announcer Dave Mishkin delivered an absolutely legendary call.

It’s hard to imagine six straight hours of hockey and it was clear that everyone was anxious for the game to end. No one seemed more excited than Lightning radio announcer Dave Mishkin. He even started to slur his words and seemed drunk with euphoria.

In the end, last night’s game was the fourth longest in NHL history. Some of the stats that resulted are completely absurd, such as Joonas Korpisalo’s 85 saves and Seth Jones’ 65 minutes of ice time. In the end, their efforts weren’t enough for the Blue Jackets.

Tuesday’s Game 1 was one of the longest games in NHL history.

Tampa Bay dominated play for the majority of overtime, but Joonas Korpisalo was a brick wall in net for Columbus. At times, it felt like the game would truly go on forever.

At last, with 9:33 remaining in the fifth overtime, star center Brayden Point finally put an end to the game.

The game ended up being so long that the NHL needed to postpone the following Bruins-Hurricanes game to Wednesday at 11 a.m. ET, because they were set to play on the same ice surface.

Looking ahead, fatigue may be a factor for the remainder of the series. This especially rings true for the Blue Jackets, who have now played five games in the last seven days. If you consider that they played more than two full games last night, you have to think they’ll be tired going forward.

The Lightning and Blue Jackets will meet again on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET for Game 2 of the seven game series.
