Ryan Helsley went and got a haircut while he had COVID-19 symptoms.

Ryan Helsley and the St. Louis Cardinals continue to not take COVID-19 seriously.

Per Brooke Grimlsey of KMOV, “a local hairstylist is frustrated after Ryan Helsley got his hair cut by her the same day the team said he was exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. She was never contacted about her exposure until [Tuesday], after we reached out to the St. Louis Cardinals for comment.”

This is an atrocious look for an MLB team that hasn’t played baseball in who knows how long. Grimsley and KMOV received a comment from Cardinals team president John Mozeliak on the matter.

“When we met with Ryan to discuss his positive status, we identified that he received a haircut. He was instructed to follow up with everyone he came in contact with, including this individual, and this was an oversight unfortunately. We regret this and will take more ownership in the future.”

At this point, should the MLB let the St. Louis Cardinals play anymore?

Before their coronavirus outbreak, the Cardinals were 2-3 on the season. Even the Miami Marlins who had their issues with the virus at the start of the 60-game season are back playing, as they have 11 games under their belt, shockingly leading the NL East with a 7-4 mark. We’re simply running out of days and running out of patience with the Cardinals organization at this point.

From Grimsley’s reporting, Bailey Dowell, who works at a salon in downtown St. Louis recounted her experience cutting Helsley’s hair on Thursday morning while he had a bit of a fever. “I was trying to give them a chance to do the right thing,” said Dowell. She was not contacted by Helsley and the Cardinals organization, so this is why she reached out to KMOV about the matter.

“I did ask what he did and he simply said baseball didn’t say specifically of course. I do remember specifically asking about had he been in contact with anybody or if he knew anybody close to him who have had COVID and he did say no to me, and thinking back on it that’s one of my frustrations,” said Dowell.

This is another prime example why the other 29 MLB teams get to play and the Cardinals don’t. It’s a shame that teams in the NL Central and AL Central have to take three or four days off because the Cardinals simply cannot get their stuff together. It’s embarrassing for everybody involved and anyone who loves baseball hearing news of this from afar. Get it together, Cards.

Helsley’s recklessness and lack of accountability is the epitome of not being a professional.
