NHL Playoffs: Avalanche vs. Coyotes Game 1 preview, stream, start time, TV channel and more
By Max Smith
The Colorado Avalanche will face off against the Arizona Coyotes in Game 1 of Round 1 of the NHL Playoffs on Wednesday, August 12.
The Arizona Coyotes shocked the world when they defeated the Nashville Predators in four games in the qualifying round of the NHL playoffs. Coming into the qualifying round, the Coyotes had the third-lowest point total of any team and were expected to make a quick exit.
They did anything but that, handling the Predators thanks to great performances from stars Clayton Keller, Taylor Hall and Phil Kessel. They’ll look to repeat similar feat in Round 1 against the Avalanche.
The Avalanche finished second in their round-robin games, winning two out of three against the Western Conference’s top teams. Nazem Kadri and Mikko Rantanen led the team with four points each in the three games.
The key to the series will be Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Kuemper was outstanding for the Coyotes in their qualifying round, making 152 saves in just four games. If the Avalanche is able to crack him, they should find success in the series.
