Kris Bryant is dealing with some minor injuries.

Right when it looked like Kris Bryant was starting to heat up for David Ross’ Chicago Cubs after a solid series against the Cleveland Indians, the former MVP’s body has started to fail him. He might need to take a day or two off to fully recuperate, including tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Bryant is not in the lineup today against the division-rival Brewers, as he is dealing with a sore finger and wrist. Kyle Schwarber will start in left field, while Nico Hoerner will hit leadoff.

Kris Bryant has struggled to get into a groove.

Bryant has hovered around the Mendoza Line for most of this season, as he is sporting an unsightly .192 average with just two home runs. Considering that he has dealt with a turbulent offseason and a period of self-isolation after self-reporting COVID-19 symptoms, his early-season struggles are somewhat understandable.

Even with all of those problems surrounding their star slugger, the Cubs have been nigh unstoppable so far in 2020, as they have gotten off to a 12-3 start while looking like the clear favorites in the crowded NL Central.

Bryant is coming off of a game in which he took Cleveland Indians submarine specialist Adam Cimber deep, so Cubs fans shouldn’t expect Bryant to be on the bench for too long.

The Cubs might’ve started off the 2020 season white-hot at 12-3, but everyone on that team knows that they won’t be able to contend for a title if Bryant is either hurt or playing at less than 100 percent. If Bryant returns to the form that helped push the Cubs through the playoffs over the last few seasons, Chicago might stand a chance when the calendar flips to October.
